  1. Providing tangible role models
  2. Supporting and nurturing an educational climate
  3. Bridging the gap between social and community mobility

Reaching Them Early

Children between the grades of Pk-4th are considered to be the most at-risk group for low performance. P.E. Bazemore once said, “If we get them while they are young, then we got them.” In October 2018, EXCEL offered free literacy education for at-risk children ages 4-10.

Involving Family

Parental involvement is a crucial element in our program as a child’s upbringing is not a partial communal effort and requires inclusive participation. Parents have the opportunity to earn points for their partaking in a variety of program exercises.

Cultural Exposure

EXCEL aims to expand the limited experiences of children in our community. In doing so, it encourages their participation in a variety of learning, including field trips, art, museums, music, drama, and public speaking functions.
